Stoke City made the trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest in Tuesday’s Championship fixture.

Both sides played out a scoreless draw on the day and manager Gary Rowett was quoted by the BBC as saying post-game.

“In my opinion we were the better side, the last 10 minutes we ran out of a bit of energy, Forest put us under some pressure. We had some really good moments in the game again, we had good control. We didn’t look in that much trouble at the other end, we defended excellently, we just didn’t find that last finish.”

Some fans may agree with Rowett’s words, plenty won’t and they’ll look at Forest having the better possession, chances overall and efforts on target as proof.

Website Whoscored had seven Forest players with a 7+ rating, but equally Stoke had six in that area, and youngster Thomas Edwards missed out by only 0.02% as they ran the stats – so the performance wasn’t that bad.

We undoubtedly had Jack Butland to thank once again though and his rating stands as a testament to that, and the England man is making a habit of being our best rated player with them this season and that tells its own story really.
