Stoke City stretched their unbeaten run to eight matches on Saturday as we took a comfortable looking victory over Ipswich Town and former managerial failure Paul Lambert.

Welcoming the side to the Bet365 Stadium, Tom Ince gave us the lead in first-half stoppage-time and Joe Allen tied the game up on the hour mark as he made it 2-0 and that’s where the scoring on the day finished.

It’s fair to say our opener came against the run of play and the visitors did have the greater chances, but we’re up to tenth in the table and only six points from the Play-Off spots.

Despite the scoreline, we needed a strong defensive display on the day and statistics website Whoscored recognised that in their ratings as although Ryan Shawcross took their star man rating with 8.85, he only narrowly beat fellow defender Erik Pieters who polled 7.84.

Sam Clucas came third with 7.73, Ashley Williams and Tom Ince followed with 7.55 and 7.43 respectively.

Finishing scores above seven were Cuco Martina (7.31), Joe Allen (7.26), Jack Butland (7.15) and Benik Afobe (7.04).

Three points and on we roll hopefully.
