Stoke City had to battle from two goals down in the weekend’s trip to the New York Stadium to face Rotherham United.

Goals from Tom Ince and Bojan in the second half of the game saved more blushes for manager Gary Rowett as despite being highly tipped for an instant return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, we are still awaiting our third win of the Championship season despite being ten games into 2018/19.

Everton centre-half Ashley Williams saw his own Championship campaign come to an end following the red card for two bookable offences in the defeat to Wigan Athletic and although he took in two EFL Cup ties, on a league front we haven’t seen him for a month.

Returning to the starting lineup last weekend, it’s fair to say Stoke fans were less than impressed with his efforts as they weren’t shy about stating their views on social media following the game.

Having been at fault in the game it’s no surprise to see him picked out, but having played in only four of our league matches the leaky defence isn’t solely on his shoulders.

  • What was/is wrong with bringing Huth back… free agent, knows the club, the fans, the fans know him, knows how to defend (which is more than can be said for current group of defenders) has three premier league trophies so knows how to win, strong character in dressing room…… or maybe that’s why Hughes decided to sell him… maybe he challenged Hughes to much when Hughes was dismantling the stoke backbone… would be good to bring on the youngsters and lead by example

  • We will continue to be a sinking ship until the toxic two are given their P45 Scholes and Cartwright, send the overpaid dodgy pair packing. They are responshble for some of the most awful recruitment this club has ever seen.If omly the Coates family would get rid of them, theyre draining and ruining a wonderful, proud football club.

  • I actually feel quite optimistic about this stoke team we seem to be able to score goals this season and are becoming a good attacking side ,I think once we can sort this shabby lot out at the back sooner rather than later I can see us achieving at least a play off spot or even automatic promotion
