Stoke City have made an enquiry to cash-strapped Birmingham City about their England International goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The Potters have tried to pounce on the 19-year-old keeper after Chelsea had a bid of around £3.5 million accepted but the highly rated stopper decided against a move to the European Champions as he wants first team football.

Stoke are looking to sign the goalkeeper and immediately loan back the England player to the Midlands outfit.

Butland would make his Britannia Stadium move in the summer when Thomas Sorensen leaves in search of first team football.

The in-demand goalkeeper won his first and only England cap against Italy in August whilst he represented Great Britain at the Olympics.
