Kenwyne Jones could be used as bait to temp Aston Villa to let Darren Bent move to the Britannia Stadium.

Both Bent and Jones have fallen down the pecking order at their respected clubs, and manager Tony Pulis looks to swap Kenwyne Jones + cash for England International Darren Bent.

Speculation has been rife in the January transfer window that the Trinidad and Tobago International Jones was on his way out of the Britannia Stadium, with Swansea`s Liberty Stadium looking his most likely destination but with recent developments Villa Park has surged into pole position.

Bent has only started just seven Premier League appearances since Paul Lambert moved to the Midlands in the summer and the 29-year-old, who was signed from Sunderland for £18 million is rumoured to want to push for a move away from Villa Park.

Jones, 28, has made 20 appearances, scoring 5 goals this season for the Potters.

Bent and Jones used to be a strike partnership at Sunderland under Steve Bruce.
