Stoke City boss, Tony Pulis and TV celebrity, Nick Hancock set off on Monday to climb Kilimanjaro in aid of the Stoke-on-Trent children’s charity ‘The Donna Louise Trust’.
Both have assembled teams with TP taking Martin Spinks from the Sentinel and Academy coach, Adrian Pennock whilst Team Hancock has former England keeper, David Seaman in it’s ranks.
They hope to raise £100,000 for the trust which provides respite care for children with life threatening conditions at it’s hospice in Trentham.
During the trek up Africa’s highest mountain, which straddles the border of Kenya and Tanzania, the teams will be tackling the Machame Route, climbing to over 12,000 feet and then traversing a significant portion of the mountain. Altogether they will spend three nights in different camps at approximately the same elevation before ascending to a high camp for their summit attempt.
