After the drought, comes the comparative flood of new players for the Potters.

The club have now announced that defender, Stephen Wright will be joining the Potters on loan from Sunderland until January.

He joins Richard Cresswell who should be officially signed later today and possibly Jon Fortune, who has yet to agree personal terms.

We should not count our eggs (or in this case players) until they’ve all been finally signed up, but it’s a relief to be able to report good news after all the pleas from the club to fans to be patient and the false alarms over the past weeks.

There is also no news yet on Salif Diao, but in the absence of any news of him signing elsewhere, then it is to be hoped that the Potters can still land the talented Senegalese midfielder.

On the minus side, the Birmingham Mail are reporting that West Brom are edging closer to a deal for defender Carl Hoefkens said to be in the region of £700,000 in cash, which could climb to £1m with bonuses. If so, he will be the second to leave in recent days after Darel Russell left for Norwich City earlier in the week in a £410,000 deal, so at least we MAY finish the week with one more player than we started with.
