One of last season’s loan signings, Jonathan Fortune is reported to be coming to the Brit on a permanent basis after Charlton agreed a deal with the Potters last night.

The deal, believed to be worth £400,000, will plug a welcome gap in defence after Andy Griffin rejected a move to the Potters to join Derby County and in light of Carl Hoefkens’ possible move to West Brom.

The player still has to agree personal terms and the Addick’s manager, Alan Pardew has said that he would like the 26 year old to stay at the club. He told their official site: ‘I’ll be honest, we have accepted a bid from Stoke purely for Jon’s sake rather than my own.

Adding: ‘I think there is the opportunity for him to play definitely in the first team there, but maybe he is going to stay and continue his career here and hope to get in our first team.’

If he joins his home debut will be against his old club on August 18th.
