After all the hype created about Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri going to Liverpool before the new season starts, it now seems the move will not happen after all.

According to the Express, Liverpool have other targets on their radar and the Potters Swiss international has been pushed down the list of possible candidates.

It was only last week that there were reports of the Reds triggering a £12.5million clause in Shaq’s contract which would allow him to leave the bet365 Stadium early.

Liverpool fans have been underwhelmed over the potential signing and thought that there were better targets that they could be concentrating on, Jurgen Klopp is a fan of the player, but you do get the feeling that Shaqiri would be spending most of his time on the Liverpool bench and that isn’t what the 26-year-old would want.

There can be little doubt that Shaqiri will be on his way out of Stoke this summer, but it remains to be seen which club would be willing to take the chance on him.
Crystal Palace, Everton and West Ham have all been linked, maybe a good World Cup could help?

Meanwhile, it is thought that Liverpool are putting together another bid for Nabil Fekir from Lyon.
