Stoke City suffered a double defeat on our mini-tour of Germany this weekend.

We opened up the Kik-xxl Cup with an encounter with German side SV Meppen and a more youthful selection by manager Gary Rowett saw us drop to a 1-0 defeat with their goal in the 15th minute being enough to secure the win at the Hansch Arena.

We did have chances and were quick to start in the 45-minute fixture so the gaffer will have been disappointed to not see us make more of our chances on the day.

Stoke:

Haugaard, Edwards, Sweeney, Souttar, Tymon, Sorensen, Campbell, Bojan, Imbula (Cameron 20), Berahino, Crouch.

There was further disappointment as we took to the next game of the tournament, Hamburger SV took a 2-1 victory as they fought back to come from behind after Erik Pieters had opened the scoring in the 15th minute. This game was controversial though as the referee awarded the Bundesliga II side a dubious freekick as the game came to a close and they took full advantage to draw level. Minutes later he then awarded them a penalty when no foul had taken place, and they took the win.

Stoke:

Haugaard, Bauer, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters, Cameron, Bojan, Allen, Etebo, Berahino (Diouf 28), Crouch (Afobe 15).
