Leeds striker, Richard Cresswell appears on the verge of joining the Potters.

It appeared that the former Preston striker had been about to join Championship rivals, Hull City after completing a medical earlier in the week, but after visiting the Britannia Stadium before last night’s friendly against Aston Villa is now ready to swap to Stoke.

Tony Pulis dismissed reports last night that he had failed the medical on the east coast, saying that the player had been bombarded with phone calls from the KC Stadium whilst at the Brit and therefore rumours that it was Hull that had pulled out of the deal were totally untrue.

If he joins, he will link up again with former teammate and strike partner, Ricardo Fuller. The pair made a formidable duo when both were at Preston North End in 2003-04 and he will join a strong front row for the Potters with Parkin, Sidibe and Pericard also battling to be first choices.

Pulis told the official site that Cresswell should play for the Potters in their final friendly against Tranmere Rovers on Friday night.
