Stoke City are continuing in their quest to land Valencia striker, Nikola Zigic.

The 27 year old Serbian international (pictured below) is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League and Valencia are ready to reduce their costs in the wake of their reported financial problems, but the Potters don’t seem prepared to break their transfer record with a £8m bid for the 6’7″ striker who cost Valencia ?20m just twelve months ago.

Stoke are hoping that they can find a compromise in a season long loan and have apparently already agreed personal terms with the player’s agent.

Chief Exec, Tony Scholes has now flown out to Spain to try and see if a deal can be done before the start of the Premier League season next Saturday. But Tony Pulis warned the media that a deal is still far from being a certainty and that Zigic is just one of several irons he has in the fire.

Nevertheless, if the Potters can land Zigic it would be a coup for the Premier League new boys and would reinforce the general view in English football that Stoke City only sign players over six feet tall.
