The transfer window has now closed and Stoke have managed to offload Tuncay and Eidur Gudjohnson.

Deadline day ended with a bit of a whimper in the Potteries with Eidur Gudjohnsen completing his medical and paperwork at the Potters’ Clayton Wood training ground ready for his loan move to Fulham. With his one year contract due to expire in June it therefore means his short sojourn in North Staffordshire has come to an premature end.

Tuncay had earlier completed a £4.5m move to Wolfsburg but whilst any Stokies expecting a late signing were disappointed at least we can console ourselves that Ricardo Fuller is still a Stoke player.

So that just leaves John Carew as the sole new arrival after he signed on loan last week, but chief exec, Tony Scholes should be happy after he managed to substantially reduce the wage bill.

Stoke keeper, Asmir Begovic certainly thinks we shouldn’t be too bothered about the lack of new arrivals. He tweeted this evening as the window closed: “We still have a very good squad tweeps. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! So all is still good.”

In other news, former Potter James Beattie has moved to Blackpool on loan from Rangers after he failed to impress the Scottish club with just seven appearances since moving north from the Brit in August.
