Potters fans have been very opinionated about Turkish International striker Tuncay`s £4.5million switch to German side Wolfsburg, in other words; they are not impressed.

The 29-year-old striker agreed a 3-and-a-half-year contract after passing medical checks during the dying embers of transfer deadline day. Tuncay now adopts the number 6 shirt at the 2008-2009 Bundesliga Champions, under his former manager Steve McClaren.

Tuncay has described it as his “dream move” after playing for 17 months at the Britannia Stadium; likewise Wolfsburg will see Tuncay as a dream signing after the departure of Edin Dzeko who switched to Manchester City.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis told the official website: “He`s always wanted to play in Germany, and has missed out on several occasions in the past.”

He added “So this is a fantastic opportunity for him, and it is a fantastic deal for the club. Considering what we paid for him when he signed from Middlesbrough.”

“He wanted to move last summer, but the time wasn`t right then. Now though, we have brought in John Carew, and Mamady Sidibe is back from injury, so we have plenty of options when you also bear in mind the strikers signed in the last window.”

However fans don`t share the same enthusiasm as our Tony and have voiced their concerns on various fan sites, including on Vital Stoke. One fan wrote:
[Tuncay] Never fully broke into the squad and didn’t seem to fit with Pulis, but he was a great player with massive enthusiasm! He’ll be missed by me that`s for sure.”

A number of fans on The Oatcake fanzine also voiced their opinions.

One said: “We now have three creative players in our entire squad. Well this should be a fun few months of the season.”

Another fan added: “Good luck to him, never got his chance really though. How can we improve and expand on what we have done if we still stick to the same long ball, long throws and set pieces?”
