It is rumoured that the Potters could be on the verge of signing Ipswich midfielder, Gavin Williams.

The Welsh international is contracted to the Tractor Boys until 2009, but having announced today that they have signed another midfielder, Tommy Miller, and, if the rumour is true, this could enable Williams’ move to the Potteries to be completed.

The former Hereford, West Ham and Yeovil player started 25 times for Ipswich last season (scoring twice in the process) after struggling back from a knee injury that sidelined him for the latter stages of the 2005/06 season.

With the Stoke midfield looking very thin on the ground with last season’s midfield trio of Diao, Hendrie and Matteo not yet signed up this time around, Pulis obviously has to address this area with a matter of urgency.

TP is still reported to be hopeful of signing a mystery striker shortly, but whether this is Malcolm Christie, who met Pulis a couple of weeks ago, or another striker is not yet clear.
