Stoke City played two friendly matches against Huddersfield Town today as Tony Pulis continues his preparations for the new season.

With both matches played behind closed doors down at the club’s Michelin training ground, it was seen as a opportunity for the coaching staff to get a close look at what will be the club’s first team squad come the first game against Cardiff – barring any new signings between now and August 11th.

TP kept virtually the same teams as played in each half of Sunday’s 5-1 win over Newcastle Town with the addition of Clint Hill and another unknown trialist named “Smith” replacing the one on Sunday with the unpronounceable name – Kangana Lord Ndiwa. Hill had been been given permission to miss Sunday’s match as he was best man at a friend’s wedding. Adam Rooney also played after he was forced to watch the Town game from the stand.

Match 1 ended 3-0 in favour of the Potters with two goals from Vincent Pericard and one from Jon Parkin.
Team 1: Hoult, Buxton, Wilkinson, Higginbotham, Dickinson, Lawrence (Thorley), Pulis, Eustace, Garrett, Parkin, Pericard

Match 2 was more delicately balanced and ended in a 2-2 draw with Ricardo Fuller again finding the net with another brace to go with his two goals last Sunday.
Team 2: Simonsen, Delap, “Smith”, Hill, Hoefkens, Sweeney, Russell, Matteo; Rooney, Fuller, Sidibe
