Stoke keeper Thomas Sorensen believes that the Potters will be a force to be reckoned with in cup competitions this season. Stoke had a fairy tale run through to the quarter finals of the FA Cup and were just one step away from Wembley until Chelsea intervened in a 2-0 defeat.

The Great Dane is widely expected to retain his number one jersey for the new season despite the ever increasing pressure from Asmir Begovic. But Sorensen that Stoke could enjoy some cup success this season.

‘It creates a lot of excitement around the place. Without playing too many games you could be in a cup final. He told BBC Radio Stoke. “With a bigger squad this year, we can give it a right go in both cups.’

Optimism seems to be catching on at the Britannia with the possible transfer of Loic Remy with a fee of £12.5 million widely reported. The Frenchman will make up his mind after talking to two further Premier League clubs next week, but it is thought he was very impressed with Tony Pulis and the club.
