Last week the Official Website turned somewhat into Moritz Bauer’s personal PR machine.

Discussing a number of topics such as the statement that Welshman Joe Allen’s new contract was for the club given relegation last season and all the speculation about our midfielder’s future, he also dropped a few hints about his own future.

The Austrian international came into the Potteries from Rubin Kazan in the January window and despite our on pitch failings and the disappointment around the club, Bauer was a small highlight as he endeared himself to the fanbase and of course this summer he has been subject to plenty of vague speculation himself about a quick move away from the club.

In the rounds of interviews that he took part in, he restated that he felt at home at the club and certainly implied he wouldn’t be going anywhere whilst the summer’s transfer window remained in full flow.

“As I said last season, everything is possible and I really do feel at home here, especially with this beautiful weather. I am an ambitious player, a curious player and I like to challenge myself and sometimes players like to try and win the Champions League or the World Cup. For me, I think I would like to be a player who helps Stoke City back to the Premier League because we all know that this is a Premier League Club.”

The 26-year-old was also saying all the right things about new manager Gary Rowett having now begun working with him.

In response to his words, fans on social media were adamant it could only be good news from our perspective many wanted the speculation about his future to be brought to an end with a new deal.
