Some good news – Sorensen injury is not that bad

A dreadful day at the office it may have been for the Potters, but at least it appears that Thomas Sorensen’s injury is not as bad as first feared.

The Danish international was caught by a two footed challenge from Kalou as he scored his second goal in the 7-0 thrashing against Chelsea and it was first feared that he’d wrecked his hopes of playing in this summer’s World Cup by breaking his elbow.

He was rushed to hospital in West London, but the club have now said that he just suffered a dislocated elbow and that it was put back into place without the need for any surgery.

Nevertheless, he’ll be out for the rest of the season, which will mean that Asmir Begovic will take over in goal after having a baptism of fire today, but hopefully will be fit to go to South Africa in June.

We’d expect to see Steve Simonsen recalled from his loan spell at Sheffield United as backup to Begovic for the final three games.
