Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane has had an offer for Potters pair Leon Cort and Danny Higginbotham turned down by the club.

Under fire Keane is trying to bolster his defensive options by signing the experienced duo on loan but has proven unsuccessful.

This may come as a surprise to many Stoke fans seeing as we are now out of the Carling Cup there is nothing from stopping our fringe players spending some time away on loan.

It has been a difficult season for both Cort and Higginbotham who have rarely featured thus far. Higginbotham lost his left-back position to the new arrival Danny Collins at the beginning of the season and has only played a hand full of games.

Cort on the other hand is struggling to even make the bench for Premier League games and after dropping down the pecking order last season, his Potters future is now in serious doubt, especially after he played the full 90 minutes in Tuesdays humiliating defeat.

Higginbotham may feature in the league as he continues to tussle with Collins but Corts next realistic appearance will be the FA Cup In January.

Time to go?
