Stoke’s veteran defender, Andy Griffin is hopeful of landing a loan move now that his chances of playing for Stoke have lengthened now that we’re out of the Carling Cup.

Stoke have one of the largest squads in the Premier League with Tony Pulis seemingly not under pressure to reduce his salary bill and keen to keep his squad options open. Only Cresswell (Sheff Utd) and Sonko (Hull) have left on long-term loan deals with Dickinson, Shotton and Marshall out on short term loans.

The speculation arose after new Middlesbrough boss, Gordon Strachan was photographed with a clipboard of possible targets including Griffin and the former Stoke striker Chris Iwelumo, who is now at Wolves.

Andy has made it clear that he’d relish a move to the Championship club with no prospect of a first team spot at the Brit in sight.
