Not entirely unexpected news really, but it’s now being reported that Stoke City and Liverpool have come to an agreement on the transfer fee for Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri.

As soon as relegation from the Premier League was confirmed for Stoke last season, the 26-year-old didn’t take long at all to express his desire to leave and Liverpool have long been linked with a move for him this summer.

There was nothing Stoke could do even if they wanted to, owing to the relegation release in his contract, but the Telegraph’s John Percy has now tweeted that he understands a deal is done for around £13.75million and that Shaqiri is set for a medical some point today.

If he does become Liverpool’s third capture of the summer so far he leaves the Britannia Stadium having made a total of 92 appearances (87 starts), returning 15 goals and numerous assists.

The biggest question arising from the deal now for Stoke fans is whether or not speculation linking us with their youngster Harry Wilson sees him involved in the deal, in terms of us securing his signature on loan for the 2018/19 Championship campaign that lies ahead.

Some on the Liverpool side believe that Shaqiri has swung interest in him our way.
