Stoke winger Liam Lawrence has told manager Tony Pulis that he wants to leave the club this summer and he may join fellow Midlands club Wolves.

Lawrence and Wolves boss Mick McCarthy worked with each other at Sunderland and now the 28 year-old has fallen down in Stoke`s estimation in recent months, a move looks an almost certainty.

Speaking of McCarthy he told the Sunday Mercury “He`s a great manager and he`s done an amazing job this year keeping Wolves up”.

He went on to say, “I`ve spoken to the manager (Pulis) and told him that I think its best if I move on”.

Lawrence joined Stoke in 2006 and impressed immediately before going on to play a major part in seeing the Potters gain promotion two years ago. However since falling over his dog just 7 games into the season and missing 3 months due to the injury, the Irish international has struggled to hold down a regular place in the team and hasn`t looked the player he was before.

Lawrence won`t be the only senior member leaving the squad with the likes of; Andy Griffin, Ibrahima Sonko, Michael Tonge, Tom Soares, James Beattie and Dave Kitson, all expected to follow him. The club`s expected clear-out is likely to make room for several signings coming in. Joe Ledley is likely and others such as Mark Noble, Jermaine Jenas and Carlton Cole have also been mentioned.
