Liam Lawrence has moved to quell the rumours that he is about to jump ship to Wolves, but hasn’t done his saleability any harm with a goal for Ireland last night.

He’s claimed that reports that he was in talks with Wolves were wide of the mark. He told the Express and Star: ‘I’d love to play for Mick McCarthy but that’s come out as I’m joining Wolves, which is not the case.’

There’s no doubt that the Irish winger would like to leave the Potters and any suggestion that he’d like to join a particular club could be seen as presumptive and kill off any deal, but he did let his football do the talking after scoring a goal in their 2-1 win over Paraguay in Dublin.

It would be sad to see the back of one of the stars of our promotion season, but Liam has found it hard to earn a regular spot in our first team and it seems time for him to try and find a club that will give him that chance.
