Tony Pulis has revealed that he is confident of signing Andy Griffin before the end of the week.

Griffin has fallen out of the Paul Jewell’s plans at Derby County and TP has wasted no time in trying to get Griff’s signature for the second time of asking. Should he sign this time around, he will certainly bring experience and vital cover to the defence to blend in with the distinctly youthful back row that boasts Leon Cort as the only player over the age of 23.

Cort also confirmed, after last night’s FA Cup draw, that he is due to sign a permanent contract with the Potters when his current loan deal expires on January 16th. Rumour has it that it could break the Potters’ transfer record and is expected to be around the £1.3m mark, beating the previous record held by that one-time, some-times former Stoke player, Sammy Bangoura when he was signed by Johan Boskamp in 2005 for just under £1m.
