Stoke City have completed their first January transfer deal with the news that we’ve signed Jermaine Pennant on a permanent deal.

Pennant has been on loan since August, but that was due to end on New Years Eve and the club has been trying for some time to ensure that he stayed at the Brit.

He’s been one of our most influential players and is great news in the wake of yesterday’s disappointing performance against Fulham when he was again ‘Man of the Match’ for the Potters.

Despite Real Zaragoza’s original insistence that they’d only let him go for £6m, the club now seem to have struck a good deal for the 27 year old. He’s signed a two and half year contract for an initial fee of £1.725m that could rise to £2.8m in the future.

And it means that he should be available for Saturday’s home match against Everton after all.
