With the Stoke manager now back from his summer holiday and the list of targets now drawn up, Pulis is very keen to now start bringing in some new players before the start of pre-season training on July 10th.

The latest name to be linked to the Potters is Celtic midfielder, Thomas Gravesen.

The former Evertonian spent a season with Real Madrid before joining Celtic in 2006, but has failed to make his mark north of the border and had a distinctly tepid return to Goodison Park last season with only five appearances during a season long loan.

Now 32 years old, it’s thought that Celtic are keen to offload the former Danish international, even to the extent of offering a free transfer and paying him up on the final year of his three year contract. This could make a move to the Potteries a possibility, but his £60,000 a week salary may cause Peter Coates to have a wince or two in the wallet area, unless they can persuade him to take a pay cut in return for the chance of regular first team football.

Certainly, a player of Gravesen’s undoubted class, even if he is nearing the end of his career, will be an interesting player to have around the Brit next season.
