Peter Coates’s latest offer to buy the club has been given a cool reception by the Icelandic majority shareholders.

Potters’ chairman, Gunnar Gislason told BBC Radio Stoke that the latest offer of £7m put the two sides ‘further away than ever’ from a deal.

If this is the case and no further offer is put on the table then it is likely that Johan Boskamp will be offered an extension to his existing contract before the end of the month and that Director of Football, John Rudge, who is currently suspended, will be following Jan de Koning and leaving the club.

But this is Stoke City and stability and certainty are not things that we’re renowned for…..
