Cardiff City failed to earn a place in the Premier League today after Blackpool beat them 3-2 at Wembley, but will the Bluebirds’ failure mean that Joe Ledley is back in the Potters’ sights?

The Welsh international has been on Tony Pulis’s shopping list for the last few years, but he’s been rebutted each time we’ve put a bid in for the 23 year old.

Ledley is Cardiff born and bred and was unlikely to have left his home town club if they’d achieved promotion, but he’s out of contract at the end of next month and there’s no doubt that Stoke and several other clubs will be keeping a close eye on the situation during the summer.

Ledley scored Cardiff’s second goal this afternoon, but it was TP’s close friend, Ian Holloway and his team of Tangerines that came away with the £90m prize of Premier League football after they twice came from behind in a exciting game played in blistering temperatures.
