James Beattie has finally left to join Glasgow Rangers and Kenwyne Jones immediately gets his old number 9 shirt.

Despite some last minute interest from Blackburn Rovers, Beattie has left the club to join the Gers and ended a very acrimonious year between the striker and his manager.

He’s signed a two year contract with the Scottish club after an undisclosed fee was agreed between the two clubs, with the media bandying about a figure in the region of £1.5 million over the past couple of days.

Just ten minutes after that announcement, the club gave out this season squad numbers with new signing, Kenwyne Jones taking over Beatt’s old number 9 shirt and second string keeper, Asmir Begovic being handed Steve Simonsen’s number 1 squad number.

In other news, Carl Dickinson has joined Portsmouth on a season long loan.
