All the Stokies will be on the look-out for the big Trinidadian, Kenwyne Jones as the Potters kick off the new season with the short trip to Wolverhampton, but it was the Turkish international, Tuncay that has excelled the most during pre-season with five goals under his belt and he’ll be upset if he’s not given a starting position so it’ll be interesting to see how Tony Pulis sets out his stall for this first match.

Vital Quotes:

One-time Stoke loan defender, Jody Craddock thinks that he is up to the task of marking Jones:
‘Making his debut, he’s going to want to make a quick impression and I’m going to have to be at my best against him.’

Wolves Team News:

Wolves have spent big over the summer with a massive £18m committed on new players. It remains to be seen if they’ve spent wisely with five players coming in – two from Europe and three from relegated clubs.

Player to watch: Kevin Doyle

Doyle scored nine goals last season and capped it with the club’s player of the season award, but is officially classified as a doubt as he’s struggling with a calf injury

Stoke City Team News:

Niggling pre-season injuries mean that Abdoulaye Faye and Liam Lawrence may be left out whilst Glenn Whelan is another who is struggling. The choice in midfield and defence should create no surprises but, if Jones starts, will the boss choose Fuller, Sidibe or Tuncay to start up front?

Player to watch: Kenwyne Jones

Pulis has said that Jones isn’t up to the fitness level of the rest of the squad and that he’ll have to treat him with care to start with, but the fans will be keen to get their first glimpse of the star signing in a Stoke shirt for the first time since 2005.

Match Facts & Stats

Tomorrow’s game must be better than last season’s bore 0-0 draw at Molineux, but it could be another close game.

  • I hope that Jones is out for a long time. I have nothing against him but a big player for you guys like Jones is injured then it’s karma biting you guys up the arse for what Sh!tcross did to Ramsey.

  • BMF name one other person who isnt associated with AFC who thinks the tackle was deliberate. Just another bitter arsenal fan who thinks the world is against his team. This is the PL not la liga

  • If 3 of your players suffered a broke ankle/leg in just a few years maybe you would think your players being targeted by thugs. Besides breaking Ramsey’s leg, Sh!tcross broke Francis Jeffers’ ankle and made a rash challenge on Adebayor’s ankle that took him over for several weeks. And from what I read he also seriously injured a player while he was on loan to some Belgium club years old. Sh*tcross is a serial leg/ankle breaker. If you Stoke fans deny this then you are senile.

  • “BMF name one other person who isnt associated with AFC who thinks the tackle was deliberate.” I’m mates with Wolves fans who thinks Sh*tcross deliberately injured Ramsey. They are your rivals but does that count?

  • I dont condone what he did to Adebayor but the jeffers and Ramsey incidents are pure accidents just look at the players reaction to it all. Secondly I sympathise that it is arsenal who have three broken legs but you not the only ones. Luka Modric and Rodrigo Possebon both suffered horrific injuries due to bad challenges and that is just off the top of my head. And yes Shawcross’s challenge on Ramsey was bad but ACCIDENTAL. Wolves and Stoke have abit of a rivalry so there opinion is always going to be slightly biased

  • Hahaha Arsenal moaning about bad tackles , Do you not remember a certain Patrick Viera ??? , William Gallas nearly ending Mark Davies’s Career at Bolton , All teams suffer Injuries its part n parcel of the game , ( Im a Wolves fan ) , I think Craddock got the ball but it was worthy of a Yellow card because of the way he went in , But Jones should have not left his back leg Stationary and it ended in him twisting his leg trying to move it , Not from the tackle itself , How about Tuncay when he flew in on Hannehman ??? , If he had stopped down Tuncay could have easily walked but nope he got up and actually picked Tuncay up !!!! , Oh and BMF , Me and a lot of my Wolves mates never and never will think he Deliberately injured Ramsey , As was the Eduardo tackle its just unfortunate , Its a shame your defenders dont show more bite , Maybe you woould be stronger at the back and not gone 6/7 years without a trophy !!!!!
