Would Youssef like to come over?

SM Caen striker and Stoke City target Youssef El Arabi has admitted he would jump at the opportunity of joining a Premier League club this summer.

The Moroccan had fantastic form last season in Ligue 1, scoring 17 goals and assisting 5 within 38 league games. He has been impressing many, especially our gaffer Tony Pulis who has had him scouted recently.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the striker said: ‘I am flattered by the different reports in the papers linking me with clubs in Europe, I did have a gentleman’s agreement with the club to go this summer, but to be honest it depends on the club.”

Youssef was previously wanted by Newcastle in January so it`s not the first time he has been linked with a move across the waters, but nothing came of it.

He continued: ‘I am an ambitious player and want to play week in, week out in a top league and test myself against the top defenders in world.

‘If an offer came for me from a good team and my club get what they want, I will be off, I love the Premier League.’

The 24-year-old has heard reports that Pulis had an eye on him – or at least his scout`s eye – adding: ‘Stoke City? I heard their manager watched me but that was through a newspaper, nothing else.’

El Arabi`s hopes of a move across the border appeared to have been heightened after Stoke chairman Peter Coates confirmed the club are looking abroad for potential signings.

He seems a decent player, at a ripe age, and he seems keen. I always like to invest in players who want to play for the club and in the league, rather than just be motivated by the number of zeros on the cheque, but he did say it would depend on the club. Maybe the Europa League could persuade him to come to the Potteries, should Tony make an offer. He is valued at roughly £5.7million so will SM Caen see something within that region?
