Stoke City defender Andy Wilkinson has been handed an F.A. charge after an off-the-ball incident involving Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli.
The 28-year-old has been charged with violent conduct after a coming together with the Italian, but referee Mark Clattenburg didn`t see the incident and only gave the duo a talking to.
After viewing of video evidence the F.A. has decided to charge Andy Wilkinson even though the video footage doesn`t really suggest anything serious occurred.
Stoke City are considering their options and have until 6pm tonight (19th September) to respond to the Football Association charge.
Full back Wilkinson could serve a three match ban which would see him miss the games against Chelsea, Swansea and Liverpool.
