Vital Stoke predicts: Arsenal (Home)

After last weekend`s curtain raiser, the Vital Stoke team were made to look like a bunch of mystic Meg`s as all of the full time staff along with BBC`s Mark Lawrenson got the score correct at the Madejski, only new Co-Editor Niall Cope got the result correct but not the right 1-1 score line.

Here is the league as it stands after the first week:

The Vital Stoke team will go head-to-head with BBC`s Mark Lawrenson in predicting Stoke`s result against Arsenal.

Points will be given for any member of the team that gets the score correct (3points) or the result correct (Win, Lose or draw (1 point)), and all points will be calculated throughout the season.

The team`s predictions are as followed:

“We have an extremely good record against Arsenal at home, and I just can`t see it changing this weekend. We have to be cautious with the Gunners though because they`re a wounded animal but I think a buoyant home crowd will roar Stoke on, who will be too strong (Literally) for their London counterparts”

Tom`s on holiday this weekend so has been given our default 1-1 score line.

“I always anticipate the visit of the easy to annoy ARSEne Wenger and I hope every single Stokie will be on his back waving their arms up and down! I’m quietly confident that it’ll be a Cup Final like match with a win for the Potters, with perhaps a last minute goal after hammering them for a good while”

“There`s no doubt it`s going to be a close game and a draw would still be a good result, but looking at the strength of our defence and the Potters` threat in the air, I think Stoke will just about edge it tomorrow.

“”Stoke have a fine home record against the Gunners but despite Arsene Wenger losing Robin van Persie and Alex Song in the past week they`re still a dangerous team. Lukas Podolski will prove crucial in their attempts for a result while Crouch and Walters will no doubt be a big handful for Arsenal`s backline.””

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson- Reading 1-1 Stoke

“There is a bit of history between these sides after their meetings in recent years and a visit to the Britannia Stadium is probably the last fixture Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wanted after seeing his side draw their first game at home against Sunderland.
“Stoke manager Tony Pulis is taking Tom Huddlestone on loan from Tottenham, which is a good signing, and every year they seem to make themselves stronger.

“We know what the Potters are like at home and they will probably be a bit miffed to have only picked up a point from their opening game against Reading after conceding so late.

“Arsenal lost Alex Song to Barcelona this week and, while he is not irreplaceable and the Gunners have plenty of decent midfielders, Song gave them a physical presence in midfield that they could have done with here.
So this will be another tough fixture for Wenger, although he has already started to bed new players in.”
