Stoke’s International round-up

It was mainly a good night for the Potters` players who were on international duty last night.

Charlie Adam set up the winner for Scotland to give Gordon Stratchan a dream start as Scotland manager as the Tartan Army beat Estonia 1-0 at Pittodrie Stadium, thanks to a Charlie Mulgrew goal. Adam played an hour and calmly found Celtic defender Mulgrew with a well worked free kick.

Asmir Begovic played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet as he helped his Bosnian side beat Slovenia 3-0 in Ljubljana.

Republic of Ireland beat Poland 2-0 with goals from Aston Villa`s Ciaran Clark and Norwich`s Wes Hoolahan. Glenn Whelan, who won his 46th cap, and extends his record of being the most capped Stoke City player, played 45 minutes in Dublin, whilst Jonathan Walters came on as a substitute in the 70th minute to replace Hull`s Robbie Brady.

Stoke`s recently acquired goalkeeper Jack Butland, who is currently on loan to Birmingham was an unused England substitution in their 2-1 win at Wembley against Brazil.

Geoff Cameron and loaned out midfielder Maurice Edu did not enjoy the best of the nights though as they lost 2-1 in Honduras in their North & Central America World Cup Qualification Fourth Stage opener. Cameron played 90 minutes at centre half and Maurice Edu, who is on loan at Bursaspor played 33 minutes as he came on for Jurgen Klinsmann`s USA for Hoffenheim`s Daniel Williams.

Kenwyne Jones played 72 minutes for Trinidad and Tobago, in what was his first game for the Caribbean side since 2011 but could not help Trinidad and Tobago as they lose 2-0 to Peru.
