I’ve just woken up from a very weird dream. The mighty Potters were at Wembley and scored FIVE goals! Not only that but there seems to be an exceptional case of mass-hallucination in North Staffordshire as many others seem to have had the same experience.

So 24 hours on and it still hasn’t really sunk in that THE POTTERS ARE IN THE FA CUP FINAL! Yesterday was the day when we finally exorcised those ghosts of 1971 and 1972 after those legends of their day took Stoke to a League Cup final and won, but could never quite make it to a FA Cup final. Gordon Banks and Denis Smith were at Wembley to see the class of 2011 take the Potters that one step further – but even they (along with 34,000 others) must have been astounded at the scale of the victory over a Trotters team that never turned up at the party.

That’s not to say that we weren’t worthy winners – oh but we were! Five sensational goals including a brace from Jon Walters along with Matty Etherington, Kenwyne Jones and Robert Huth sealed a win that will go down not only in the record books but in Potters’ folklore.

We can now look forward with relish to the FA Cup final against Man City. Yes, we’ll be the underdogs but that’s just how we like it, so don’t ever write us off – that Cup could just be ours by 6pm on May 14th…. Now that would be history!
