Favourable results from other matches saw the Potters keep 7th position.
Birmingham, Preston, West Brom and Colchester all lost with Southampton and Cardiff getting a point apiece. Only Derby won, beating Preston and bringing to an end PNE’s home record run in the process.
Stoke’s next opponents, Wolves won and crept up to just a point behind, which will make the home match on the 13th January even more crucial than normal.
