Stoke City have signed Aston Villa midfielder, Lee Hendrie on a two month loan.

It seems to have taken Villa fans by surprise. 29 year old Hendrie had been linked to Crystal Palace and QPR and according to our colleagues at Vital Villa, he was widely expected to rejoin former Villa manager, John Gregory at Rangers.

Well, some good news at last and with luck, he will be in the side against Preston at the Britannia tomorrow.

In other news, it seems that Ade Akinbiyi will not be returning to the Potteries. Sheffield United manager, Neil Warnock has decided not to loan the player out: “We can put this to bed right now – Ade is going nowhere. He is just too important to the squad here, so no chance. No way. I shall not let him leave on loan, end of story.”

Seems like any chance of a shorter trip to work for the Blades’ reserve striker will have to be put on hold for the time being…

  • Praise the lord – a bit of good news ! Let’s hope TP doesn’t decide to play him in goals and oust Simmo this time; our other “performing” player. That assumed (but don’t bank on it), he could be a very good signing if he’s really up for it. Gooaaaarn son.

  • lee hendrie? i wondered what had happened to him! He’s obviously lost his appetite for the game. Nick Barmby springs to mind…

  • is he a schoolboy signing on and do you have to provide him with a healthy eating lunch jamie oliver style????

  • “obviously lost his appetite for the game” – what are you smoking DMG? His comments over the last weeks don’t sound as if he has – he’d be happy to play in Villa reserves if so. His performance yesterday, by all accounts, didn’t look like that of a man who has lost his appetite. I wasn’t there to see it for reasons too complicated to mention here. 🙁

  • C’mon fornside, Hendrie is not your saviour! And are you lot really happy with a draw against Preston? We bombed them out of the league cup with our second string side!

  • DMG: It must be really sad for you to have to hang around our site as no one at the Fail can be bothered to write for the Vital PV site

  • True, we’re only just beginning to pick up the pace – but give it a couple of weeks… in the meantime do feel free to comment on our performance against Northampton.
