Stoke lose Fortune

Jonathan Fortune has been recalled by Charlton after only a month of a loan period that should have lasted until the end of the season.

More bad news for Stoke as the experienced defender had settled well in to the role vacated by Michael Duberry at the end of January.

Charlton boss, Alan Pardew had been criticised in some quarters for letting Fortune come to Stoke in the first place but was not able to recall him until the first 28 days were up and has not wasted any time getting him back at the earliest opportunity.

The only positive note is that his likely replacement is Gabriel Zakuani who deputised for Fortune in the Potters’ win over Derby last week and received glowing reports.

In other news, Academy keeper Rob Duggan has joined local Conference side, Stafford Rangers on a month’s loan.
