Stoke are ready to rock the footballing world by splashing out £7 million on Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko, according to reports.

The Daily Mirror is reporting the 26-year-old’s time in Turin is up and he may complete a deal to Stoke before the end of the month.

The Potters will face competition from an array of European clubs, including Villareal and Marseille, however the lure of England’s top league is believed to have put Stoke at the front of the queue.

The Mali international enjoyed his previous stay in the Premiership, making 51 appearences for Liverpool and establishing himself as a firm favourite before moving to Juventus for £8million in January 2008.

An industrious midfielder who’s already proven in the Premier league, his all-action style would suit Stoke down to the ground.

Meanwhile, new signing Jonathan Woodgate looks set to don a Stoke shirt for the first time tonight as the Potters face Brentford at Griffin Park.

  • He is a quality player, and at the age of 26, he’ll be a good investment for the future too. I’d like to see him come to the Brit for sure

  • Definitely mate, he’d really push us on, different papers unsurprisingly have a different stance on this one – I’m hoping the Mirror are spot on and Pulis hasn’t ruled out a move in the Sentinel today so it could be a goer!
