Sour grapes for Arsene

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger has reverted to standard procedure and attempted to deflect criticism from the media that his team are a bunch of southern softies and accused the Stoke team of being ‘cowards’

He’s still smarting from the 2-1 defeat at the Brit on Saturday and didn’t criticise the Potters after the match, instead saying that his players were ‘not as sharp’ as Stoke. But now, in the wake of the storm from the national media, has come out with a belated attack.

He’s reserved special criticism for Ryan Shawcross for his tackle on Adebayor and Rory Delap’s tackle on Theo Walcott, calling them both cowards. Yes, both tackles were slightly late but neither could be deemed deliberate and to call Stoke dirty as a result is a gross distortion of the facts and, for those of us who know the team, totally untrue.

That man really needs to get a reality check – has he forgotten he called Van Persie’s sending off ‘harsh’ on Saturday? The Gunners’ striker deliberately ran into Thomas Sorensen with his foot raised and knocked him to the ground just after we’d scored our second goal. How can he ignore the sending off of one of his players, which happened while the ball was in Sorensen’s hands, whilst complaining about two events that occurred in the normal run of play?
