Xherdan Shaqiri has won the Vital Stoke man of the match award for his performance in the Potters 1-0 victory against Newcastle United at the Britannia Stadium.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder was in superb form for Stoke throughout the game and scored the only goal of the game in the dying embers of the fixture.

The Swiss midfielder was energetic and creative throughout. He wasn`t scared to take on his man and put a cross into the box, and also to cut inside and shoot, with the latter helping him to break the deadlock with a superb strike from 20-yards.

The 24-year old receives 5 maximum Player of the season points after winning the poll with 53% of the vote, beating Jack Butland (20%) who receives 3pts and Phillip Wollscheid (12%) who receives 1pt.
