Stoke City striker, Adam Rooney feels that he is ready for the first team.
18 year old Rooney, who came on for the last fifteen minutes of the Potters’ late 2-0 win against Millwall in the FA Cup, had more than an helping hand in the team’s two goals in the final ten minutes and could have claimed a goal of his own. He told the official site: ‘It was nice to get a chance to show what I can do. I haven’t had many chances this season but I think I am ready now. I maybe should have done a bit better with my effort at goal but their defender knocked me off my stride a bit and it put me off.’
‘There is a lot of competition at the club now and a lot of good strikers so I have got to keep my head down, keep working and hopefully show what I can do.’
Rooney’s most memorable game to date was a hat-trick in the final game of last season away at Brighton.
The club has also revealed that talks with the player about a contract extension are at an advanced stage.
