Stoke City assistant manager, Peter Reid is on the short list to be the new boss at Plymouth.

Reid only became Tony Pulis’s number two last season after he gave up his previous job of Thailand’s national coach to return to Premier League management.

According to the Sentinel, his name is in the hat for the job which TP had for a season in between his two stints at the Brit. Now that the two other named contenders (George Burley and Steve Cotterill) have found gainful employment elsewhere he seems to be favourite to land the job.

Oddity of the day: All these guys have been linked to the Potters in the past. Cotterill infamously spent a short spell at Stoke in 2002 before leaving for Sunderland. His replacement was supposed to be George Burley, but he turned us down after witnessing a defeat against Watford at the Brit just minutes before a press conference to announce his appointment. Tony Pulis was then offered the role and the rest (as they say) is history….
