Tony Pulis was full of praise for the Potters’ efforts after their draw with Preston:

He told the official site: ‘We should have got three points. The best team didn’t win and we are desperately disappointed.
‘For parts of the game we slaughtered them and they couldn’t get out of their own half. We were only asked to defend three or four times, but on one occasion it was very frustrating to get opened up by one ball.
‘I thought Lee Hendrie was excellent and on another day with a bit more luck could have got himself a hat-trick.. He’s got quality and finds good spaces and his passing and movement around and off the front players is very good.
‘We got round the back better today and got loads of crosses in. But to win games we have to defend and we have to learn that we can play well and open teams up, but when we are asked to defend everyone has to do the job asked of them.
‘As for Ricardo Fuller, he did well but is not fully fit yet. He’s still not 100 per cent sharp and the only way he will get that is by playing in games. But we think he’ll do the job we have brought him here for, which is to score us goals.’
