As the transfer window closes, the loan window reopens and Stoke manager, Tony Pulis looks set to act quickly to sign a striker on loan

He has already been linked with Sheffield United’s Danny Webber, but Warnock has indicated that he wants to keep him at Bramhall Lane for now, so the next target seems to be Blackburn Rovers’ Jason Roberts.

The Grenada international was only signed from Wigan last summer but has failed to make the break into the Rovers’ first team – only making four starts this season after recovering from injury and is apparently ready to join the Potters on loan, but the final decision is up to the club and manager, Mark Hughes may not be prepared to risk losing another striker with Matt Derbyshire just out with an injury.
