Darel Russell’s superb second half strike was enough to see Stoke end their pre-season schedule with a predictable 1-0 scoreline against Grimsby at Blundell Park.
65 City fans made the trip south, and were rewarded with a good display from the Potters ahead of the big kick off against Southend on Saturday, with Russell’s individual goal the icing on the cake.
The game saw a full 90 minutes for Scottish winger Peter Sweeney, who will be hoping to put last seasons injury problems behind him and make the left wing spot his own.
