Jermaine Pennant will not be offered a new contract at the Britannia Stadium.

The right winger has not activated a clause in his contract, which would warrant an automatic year extension to his contract.

The former England Under-21 international has not played enough games to activate the clause, after falling out of favour in the Potteries, and manager Tony Pulis will allow the 30-year-old to leave on a free transfer.

Pennant was brought for £1.75 million in 2011 after a successful 6 month loan deal from Real Zaragoza.

He has recently spent time on loan at Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanders and could again move out on loan to the Championship before the March 24th deadline.

The imminent departure of Pennant and Michael Owen is another step in Tony Pulis` major overhaul of his squad, following the departures of the likes of Danny Higginbotham and Matthew Upson as he looks to imbed younger players such as Jack Butland and Steven N`Zonzi into his squad.
