Stoke City are hoping that Lee Hendrie is fit and Jon Parkin stays off the pitch for Saturday’s clash with Hull City at the Britannia Stadium.
The Potters are pulling out all the stops to get Hendrie fully fit for the game which is a ‘must win’ for both teams. Tony Pulis told the Sentinel: ‘We are desperate for him to be fit and Lee is equally desperate to throw his weight behind the cause at this crucial time.’
Stoke are still two points off the play-offs but now have Wolves and West Brom well in their sights. On the other hand, Hull City are one place above the relegation zone and that is only because of Leeds’ poor goal difference and with Leeds showing some late form, a win is vital to help save the Tigers from possible relegation to League 1.
Recent Potters’ loan player, Jon Parkin is rumoured to be going to be thrown into Hull’s starting eleven on Saturday. Parkin was recalled early from the Potteries in a last desperate attempt by Hull to regain some goal scoring capabilities after impressing Stoke fans with three goals in his short spell at the club.
Parkin has not impressed Tigers’ fans in recent months and our colleagues over on the Vital Hull website have queried their manager’s wisdom in recalling The Beast. Parkin started his first match back at the KC Stadium on the bench and only appeared for the final minutes of a 1-1 draw with Colchester. Here on Vital Stoke, we cannot see the point in recalling a player that was virtually guaranteed a starting position here and then leaving him on the bench. Although, under the terms of his loan contract, Parkin would not have been eligible to play for us against Hull, it does seem to be the last desperate throw of the dice over on the east coast.
