Operations and suspensions

Sam Bangoura may have an operation to repair his broken hand as soon as Tuesday. He was booked in to the hospital on Thursday, but Johan Boskamp is keen to get him fit for Saturday’s game against Millwall so is trying to find him an earlier appointment. Definitely not on the NHS then!

Meanwhile, Boskamp has told Mamade Sidibe NOT to have an operation on his broken nose that should have taken place today (Monday). He told the official site that the operation could wait until the end of the season – ‘I tell Mama I want him to have the operation after the season because we cannot afford to lose him for two-weeks’.
Adding that ‘I also tell him he looks better now anyway!’

Carl Hoefkens and Dave Brammer will both miss the trip to Norwich in two weeks after picking up their fifth yellow cards in the game against Birmingham. As suspensions do not start until seven days after the offence, both will be available to play in Saturday’s Millwall game.

Much has been reported about the trouble after the game on Sunday and ‘fans’ from both clubs seem to be equally implicated. I am not going to add to the column inches as this is not the place. Neither should there be a place for such mindless violence in British society, let alone a football match.
